What has been the biggest advancement in technology for sports information?
Mr. J: The biggest advancement in technology has to be computers and computer programs. I was a one man operation with some great students and Mrs. Fortson – I could have done so much more if I had had the technology that is available now. At a home football game before there were elevators at Mississippi Memorial we would have to climb the stairs and lug the duplicating machine along with a gallon of duplicating fluid to the press box. You would have to type the play-by-play on a stencil and then you had to tear it off and run to duplicate it and there was always a chance that it might crumble and then you would have to retype it. Now you have computers and programs that you can type everything as the play-by-play is happening and at the end of the game everything is already there and added for you.
