Armuchee High School has earned recognition from The Governor’s Cup Challenge for SAT success as the 7-AA Region Champion in the academic competition. Armuchee High finished third in the state championship for the 2009 AA Governor’s Cup and was named the Top Scorer in the AA classification. AHS was also one of only two AA qualifiers to have an SAT score higher than the national average. The Governor’s Cup Challenge calculates average three-year gains made by schools on their most recent SAT in both the critical reading and math sections. Three years worth of scores are used to promote on-going improvement in student performance on the SAT. It is significant that Armuchee High was one of a select few schools to be honored with SAT scores higher than the national average because statistics show it is much more difficult to significantly raise test scores when your scores are already at a high level.
