What has been happening to 1021’s worksite organizers?
Since the merger into 1021 there has been a turnover of about half of the worksite organizers. There are several jurisdictions that do not have staff representing them. Members in San Francisco have complained that long-term staff are being reassigned to other locations and the institutional knowledge of employer relations is disappearing. There has been an unusually large number of grievances filed by CWA & OPEIU (who represent staff) against SEIU1021. Our Union has forgotten that all workers, even their own, deserve the same working environment that their members desire.
