What has animal testing done to help animals (any diseases cured)?

We wouldn’t have any of the drugs we use today to treat animals with if they weren’t tested on animals first. All the painkillers, antibiotics, vasodilators, calcium channel blockers, eye treatments, ear treatments, antisickness drugs, antispasmodics, flea treatments, anthelmintics, anaesthetics, sedatives, antiarrhythmics – they just wouldn’t exist. Also surgical techniques like hip replacements or complicated heart surgeries have only been possible by trying them out first. Think of Parvovirus and Distemper – they used to kill loads of dogs every year. Now we have a vaccine for them. Those vaccines were discovered and improved through animal research. Name any disease caused by a bacteria and we have the antibiotics to treat it. Current research is trying to find better treatments for cancer in cats. The Bluetongue vaccine was developed in a lab somewhere by using ruminants in their research. Without animal testing, we have no animal drugs. And that is a scary thought.
