What harm does feeding native animals do?
Feeding stations are a source of disease transmission. Diseases such as psittacosis and beak-and-feather disease are easily transmitted when parrots come into close proximity. Seed bells are an efficient way of transmitting disease through shared saliva. Any feeding implements such as trays and dishes can spread disease unless thoroughly cleaned regularly. Food scraps and uneaten food can harbour disease.
