The bath is going down and the R-250 aerates (the R-250 EX has no aeration valve). This protects the material in the flask from overheating. If this option is switched off, it can lead to an overheating and in case of the R-250 EX to an overpressure in the system (e.g. if a low boiling solvent like methylene chloride is used).
