What happens when you stop taking creatine?
Creatine is a naturally occuring substance in the body. It is used as a part of creatine-kinase in the muscles when the available ATP [energy source derived from food] is depleted in order to give the muscles a little more endurance and strength. Your body has a natural level. By taking creatine as a food supplement, you can increase the available strength and endurance by up to 10%. This, however, is a temporary thing. The liver notices that there is extra creatine, and lowers the body natural levels to keep it balanced. This is probably a good thing as too much creatine in the blood can kill the kidneys. This is bad. You will die in great pain without kidneys. Now, the safest way to use creatine is to cycle on and off. There are many regimens for this, noone agrees on a single safest way, but I favor the 3 weeks on 3 weeks off plan. This shortcircuits the livers tendency to lower the natural levels, and will not overly weaken you when you cycle off. It also is far less likely to kill
