What happens when the world population reaches it limit of 9 billion in 2050?
In theory, there is no limit. Before the industrial revolution, the earth was only capable of supporting 1 billion humans. This was because there was only one source of energy – the sun. It produced the same amount of energy every year without fail and thus set the limit for the number of humans it could support. Once we learned how to create our own energy, the population increased because we were then able to safely support more life. So, in theory, depending on advances in energy science, if the breakthroughs are substantial enough, then number of human the earth can support could grow to be indefinite.
