What Happens When the Warehouse Management System is Active?
If the warehouse and storage locations are managed by the Warehouse Management (WM) system, additional steps are carried out to track the movement of the goods. When the goods receipt is posted in inventory management, the system assigns a quantity of material (known as a quant) to an interim storage area and creates a transfer requirement in the WM system. Using the WM system, you create a transfer order based on the information in the transfer requirement. This order transfers the quant from the interim storage area to a storage bin in the warehouse. The stock type for the quant and the transfer requirement is set to inspection stock. The goods are assigned to a storage bin that has a dynamic coordinate, which can be the number of the order or another document.
