What happens when the organisation changes?
Where an organisation seeks to change its name only, it must write to AusAID for approval. If AusAID is satisfied the renamed organisation is the same organisation as that approved previously, formal approval of the name change by the Minister for Foreign Affairs is not required. AusAID will advise the Australian Tax Office of the organisation’s intention. Where an organisation seeks to change anything other than its name (for example its purpose or provisions in its constitution or equivalent document) it should consult with AusAID beforehand about the possible effects of the changes on its tax deductibility status. A full approval process may need to be held and a new organisation approval might need to be sought from the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
