What happens when the job centre mess up clerically?

Contact the Job Centre again. Rapid Reclaims are supposed to be just that – rapid. However, whilst obviously your claim should have been processed by now, the staff at all the Job Centres and Benefit Delivery Centres are under immense pressure and have thousands of claims to process and with the best will in the world, they can’t process everybody’s claims as fast as they would like. The current economic climate means that they are snowed under with work. In addition to processing claims, there are many people enquiring every day as to why their claim hasn’t been processed yet; whilst the staff at the BDCs appreciate people’s concerns, whilst answering such enquiries they are not able to get on with processing claims which may have been made even earlier than those who have made the enquiries! Sadly, in addition, some paperwork does sometimes go astray; the staff are trying their best but we’re not super-human; mistakes inevitably will be made from time to time.
