What happens when someone is referred to Social Services?

We will find out the reason for the request and to what extent any child or children are being affected. If there is reason to believe that any child is either in need or at risk, the Social Worker will contact the family directly to find out their view of the situation. If we are going to work with you we will need to find out more about you, your child’s needs and your family. This is by means of an assessment of needs – we call it an initial assessment.
