What happens when people gossip at work?
A person who gossips will quickly lose credibility with co-workers and people will no longer trust the individual. They will also wonder what you say about them behind their back too. Once you lose your integrity, it’s very hard to get back. You will find that in many cases the person that you are gossiping to will go and tell that person what you have said about them. Talk about instant conflict… it is eye-balling you right in the face. How is your boss going to feel when he finds out that one of his employees has started unnecessary conflict in the workplace? People who gossip will worry about what others are saying behind their back. This can lead to becoming work paranoid and becoming miserable at the workplace. It cuts productivity and that is not fair to your employer. This can in turn lead to losing work accounts and perhaps jobs too. It could affect your career prospects (if management knows that you gossip, they’re far more likely to pass you over for a promotion). Also, at
