They fight for a while to stand still, do a bunch of crap that the fans have waited for years to see, maybe throw in a couple of inside jokes, etc. and nothing is really settled. They figure out that they are being manipulated by some all-powerful bad guy(s). They team up to fight previously mentioned all-powerful bad guy(s) In the process of fighting all-powerful bad guy(s) they learn a new found respect and trust for each other and do a bunch of crap that the fans have always wanted to see, all the while neither hero showing up the other too badly. In the end, no continuity changes and some all-powerful god-like being either fools around with time and space so that the heroes never met or makes everyone forget said previous meeting. Either way no one ever brings up the meeting again…… unless there is a se
