What happens when it snows? Are classes ever cancelled?
Because Geneseo is a primarily residential campus, classes are rarely cancelled campus-wide based on the weather. Sometimes individual professors who have long commutes must cancel their classes because they cannot drive the roads safely; most professors notify students of such emergencies through class email lists (another reason to check your Geneseo email) or via their department offices. The Geneseo campus hotline number for closings due to extraordinary weather circumstances is (585) 245-6666. The campus radio station, WGSU (89.3 FM) will inform residential students about snow emergencies. In Rochester, the local NPR station WXXI (1370 AM and 91.5 FM) and commercial station WHAM (1180 AM) report all official closings.
