What happens when HDTV content isn available for broadcast?
The standard definition programming is upconverted for broadcast on the HD channel. Because the SDTV material has a different aspect ratio, this results in black bars, sometimes referred to as pillar box, filling the left and right area of the screen. SUN TV is an all-digital facility, which results in an excellent picture quality when upconverting our standard definition signal.
