What happens when asylum seekers are not allowed to stay?
In theory, “failed” asylum seekers are supposed to be removed, but this is not always straightforward. There are some countries to which it is not possible to return people.Families are however treated more favourably after a “negative” decision than single people in terms of accommodation and subsistence: Support continues until removal if there are dependant children, whereas single people must leave UKBA accommodation within 28 days.
