The process of gathering all the information and drafting a Statement or Note Lieu should be completed within ten weeks of agreeing to carry out the statutory assessment, excluding summer holidays. The LA then have a further 2 weeks to decide whether to make a statement or not. When the LA has received and considered all the information, they will either issue a proposed Statement, or they will write to you explaining their reasons for not issuing a Statement of Special Educational Needs and will issue a Note in Lieu.
