What happens when a student comes to an Assistant Director with a complaint about a teacher, but doesn t want the teacher to know about it?
This does happen, and it presents a difficult balancing act between a student who is concerned enough to raise an issue and a teacher whose professional reputation is on the line. In the initial conversation, the Assistant Director lets the student know that it is our expectation that students talk directly with teachers, and gives suggestions about how the student might approach the teacher about his or her concern. The Assistant Director says too that if this doesn t solve the problem, the director will have to include the teacher in the discussion. If the student returns after this initial conversation and is unsatisfied with the response he or she got from the teacher, then the Assistant Director will contact the teacher for further discussions.
