What happens when a potential conflict of interest is reported to the funding agency?
The funding agency will be informed about significant financial interests that might affect the design, conduct or reporting of the research. This disclosure will only occur after the grant has been awarded, with assurance to the funding agency that the conflict has been reduced, eliminated or managed, before the grant funds can be activated. While the funding agency can request additional information about the conflict, they generally do not do so unless there is a cause for the request.
