What happens when a Plumeria flower is pollinated?
If a Plumeria flower is pollinated either by nature or human, a seed pod develops. They start out looking like two tiny brownish nibs. The seed pod grows and starts looking like two brownish string beans approximately 6 inches long. When it matures it is dark brown. It takes approximately 9 months for a seed pod to mature. Seeds line both sides of each seed pod. There are approximately 50 seeds in each pod. The pod is considered the Plumeria’s fruit, but you can’t eat it. When the pods are mature and ripe, they burst open. To avoid losing seeds to the wind, wrap a piece of nylon stocking over the pod.
