What happens to the toes in pointe shoes?
Dancing on pointe is done balanced the tips of your toes. however it is nothing like just standing barefoot on your toes (ouch!) pointe shoes have a very hard yet flexible sole so with the proper shoe for your foot balancing is not tedious but comfortable and the shoe becomes one with your foot. You wear a thin flexible padding in the toe of the shoe to prevent blisters but obviously wearing any kind of shoe with that much physical activity is going to produce friction so usually after a few hours of continuous pointe you may develop blisters. the toes remain straight in the box of the shoe (since the feet are pointed) the feet are not jammed into the shoes unless you have horribly fitting pointe shoes. the shoes are snug but just so that they do not come loose. a proper pointe shoe is comfortable and makes the individual’s foot look and feel good….wow that came off snooty sry about that – basically the toes are straight and the shoe is incrediblly strong and the dancer’s body is tra
