What happens to the subscription to discussions when the e-mail address of a user is changed in the User Profile?

In Discussions, usernames are used for subscription and not the email address. Hence a user profile and subscription to discussions are tightly bound. When the user changes his e-mail address in the user profile, it is reflected in the subscription. If a user is deleted, the subscription is canceled as well.
