What happens to the quarantined items when the anti-spyware/anti-virus program is uninstalled?
The quarantined items are encoded and placed into a location where they can’t do any damage. If you uninstall Webroot, any fragments that are left will be harmless, but they might still take up space on your computer. Your best bet to delete these things is through the Spy Sweeper application itself. Double click the little crosshair icon in the notification area to open the control center, then click the button marked “Quarantine.” Click the checkbox for everything you want to get rid of (all of it) and click Delete Selected Items at the bottom of the pane. That should get rid of them permanently. I’ve been disappointed with Webroot myself lately. They used to be a good application, but when I’ve gone to their site to look up nasties that I know are floating around on the net, they don’t seem to have any data on them. S&D is free, and it does a great job.
