What happens to the original data when a DVD-RW disc is initialized?

A24: Doing a quick format initialization within the PRV-LX1 erases all the data but retains the lead in/out data for quicker finalization times when re-recording on RW media. If you choose full blank for initializing DVD-RW media the LX1 erases all data including the lead in/out information. Also, performing a quick format initialization of DVD-RW media within the PRV-LX1 takes about 1-2 minutes. Performing a full blank initialization takes about 60 minutes. Note: Erasing the lead in/out data on DVD-RW media increases finalization times for all new recordings if a minimum of 35mm of data from the inner radius has not been met.
