Because it is nearing the end of its useful life, the existing plant located in the Horseshoe Bend subdivision will be taken out of service but the pump station will remain at the site. From a financial standpoint, this benefits all ratepayers. Upgrading the plant to meet tougher, new regulatory requirements would require a significant investment. Fulton County decided to invest in a more cost effective strategy of building the technologically advanced JCEC.
