What happens to the money collected through fines?
All the money goes to central government. The Partnership is funded via a fixed grant provided to Surrey County Council for investment in road safety. There is therefore no incentive for the Partnership to generate additional revenue, as we do not receive any money from the fines. Instead we are judged by reductions in casualties at safety camera sites. As far as we are concerned the most successful camera site is one where people slow down, no tickets are issued and there is no more death or injury as a result.
