What happens to the Fairwood Library if we become the City of Fairwood, or if we are annexed to Renton?
A new City of Fairwood would quickly annex into the nationally-renown King County Library System (KCLS) and we could continue to enjoy the benefits of the Fairwood Library with ZERO change in services or financing. Incorporation opponents claim that there will be extra costs with annexing into the KCLS, but you already pay the library levy that supports the Fairwood Library, which means you’ll continue to pay the exact same amount you’ve already been paying. If remaining in the KCLS, the Fairwood Library would still undergo its planned 2012 expansion, which will make the facility even more beneficial to our community. If we are annexed to Renton, we might lose our library to the inferior Renton library system and lose the benefit of its 2012 expansion.
