What happens to the animals once an experiment is completed?
Most animals are euthanized (put to sleep) in order to study their tissue. Animals whose tissues are not needed may take part in additional experiments. Most often, the animals are not allowed to take part in more than one major surgical procedure. Other animals are adopted out to families, and many others live out their natural lives, cared for in research facilities although they are never again used for research. TOP> 13. Most researchers could make more money in other careers. In addition, researchers chose their field by a desire to help and to relieve suffering. Animal research is necessary for continued progress in science and human health. The payoff for research is not money but the treatments and cures that benefit both humans and animals.
