What happens to students when they violate the alcohol policy?
Students who violate the alcohol policy at Geneseo are subject to disciplinary action from the Residence Life Central Staff, Residence Directors, the Associate Director for Judicial Affairs, or the Dean of Students. All violations are viewed case by case and addressed with an emphasis on education and accountability. Disciplinary hearings help students consider the consequences of their actions in light of campus policy as well as local, state, and federal law. Disciplinary actions, whether warnings, community service, probation, suspension, or dismissal, are geared to help students identify better choices for their future behavior. When appropriate, students will be referred to expert health and counseling staff for help with alcohol issues.
