Dogs and cats found wandering in the Shire may be impounded by Council. If identification can be established owners will be notified. Fines may apply when we pick up stray animals. Owners of wandering animals can be fined up to $500.00. In addition, if your animal is taken to the pound a release fee also applies. If the animal is currently registered, and you can provide evidence, the release fee is $100.00. For an unregistered animal this fee is $140.00.
