What happens to recycling materials?

0

The recycling materials (paper, card, plastic bottles and containers and metal cans see list below) are collected loose and mixed. These are then delivered to a local facility where the materials are sorted and sent onward for processing. It is normal to recycle around 90% of the materials collected. Sometimes it might be necessary for contractors to refuse to collect bins or bags containing materials that could effect the recycling process including liquid waste, food waste, glass or garden waste. Such materials can lead to a 10 tonne load of recycling being rejected. Bins found containing these materials will be refused and confirmation left, either by letter or by a sticker affixed to the bin.
