What happens to my University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP) benefits if I separate but don retire?

If you are vested (have five or more years of UCRP service credit), your retirement benefit remains with UC until you choose to retire at some date in the future. You are eligible for the annual inactive Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) of up to 2 percent, if any, which is applied to your highest average plan compensation (HAPC) at the time your retirement benefit is calculated.
