Mace Windu confronts Palpatine in a fierce light-saber battle during Episode 3. Palpatine unleashes Force lightning on Mace Windu and Palpatine then asks Anakin to destroy Windu. Anakin betrays the Jedi and cuts off Mace Windus hand. Then, Palpatine uses Force lightning to send Mace Windu flying out of Palpatines window. Mace Windu survives his fall from Palpatines office and remains hidden until the events of Episode 7, 8 and/or 9.
