What happens to left-over books after the sale?
VNSA does not carry books forward to the next year’s sale, except for specific, unusual books. Books at the Sale are sold or donated to nonprofit groups. Arrangements for disposal of books are made months in advance of the sale. Are my donations to VNSA of books and related items tax-deductible? Books and related items donated to VNSA to be sold at the VNSA Used Book Sale are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Internal Revenue Code places the responsibility for estimating the value of the items donated upon the donor, rather than the organization receiving the donation. VNSA does not provide any goods or services in consideration, in whole or in part, for any items donated. VNSA is tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3).
