What happens to existing casework when there is a change of MP?
The main issue here is Data Protection. When someone ceases to be an MP, they cannot continue to process the case, and should write to the Constituents to inform them of this. The former Member should also seek written agreement from the Constituent to pass the case work onto the new Member. If permission is not granted, the file should be returned to the Constituent, or destroyed as appropriate.
