What happens to cut trees?
Merchantable timber from this project will be sold and the proceeds used to help fund the project. If feasible, the remaining debris will be chipped to reduce the amount of burning required. Material that cannot be chipped will be piled and burned. What about smoke? Burn piles will be lit during good venting conditions to reduce smoke. Smoke conditions will be monitored and burning times adjusted if necessary. Local residents and businesses will be notified prior to the start of any slash burning. We have a smoke notification list for people with medical problems that could be affected by smoke.
