What happens to cases that were pending in Citizenship and Immigration Services Offices in the affected areas?
There is no indication yet from DHS about what will happen to pending cases. This may be because CIS officials have not been able to assess the damage firsthand. We suspect that all cases that were pending in affected offices will need to be re-filed. This may cause substantial delays for work permits, travel documents, and permanent residence interviews. USCIS prepares for hurricanes and tropical storms by temporarily closing offices, if necessary, in the projected path of any storm.
