What happens to braces without Orthodontists to maintain them?
Interesting question. I have never thought about it, but I think that over time your teeth will start to move back to their original place because the metal wire will have been so broken down from the length of wearing it that it will become very soft. Remember that the first stage of digestion is saliva, so that will help to break the metal. They will most likely stay on because they have been glued on with ‘cement’ and it keep braces on for years and years. I have a permanent retainer that they glue on with the same type of glue and it is meant to stay on for the rest of my life so I don’t think there’s a chance of the glue coming loose. Some kids have braces for up to and more than five years! Some may start to come loose because of the constant eating and biting into hard foods and such. You could take them off with plyers but you can’t just pull them off. They have a ‘soft spot’ that is such like when they are squeezed at certain points they pop right off! It’s like those rubber h
