If a catheter is inserted during surgery it’s right after you are put under because they feel that the surgery will be an hour or longer if general anesthesia is being used. When they start the reversing of anesthesia they will probably have someone let you know that surgery is over. At this time they will take cathether out if one was used during the surgery. After all that is done they then wheel you to recovery where they will then put oxygen on you to help you with the waking up process. When you wake up you may notice that the area where your surgery was was wrapped. As for underwear, you will take that off at the time you get changed in to a gown. They won’t deal with your underwear in the OR or recovery. As for redressing, that will be done when you are ready to go home and you may need help with doing that when it’s time to go home if you are outpatient.
