What happens to an election made under pre 1974 arrangements?
If you are already buying-in previous service under pre 1974 arrangements you will continue to pay additional contributions under the terms and conditions which applied when you made your election. If you make a further election under the present arrangements, the contributions payable under your previous election will cease. You will be credited with as much service as you have paid for during the shorter contribution period. The remaining service will not therefore be pensionable unless it is included in the new contract to buy-in added years.
