What Happens on the Day of Eyelid Reduction Surgery?
You will be asked to come into the clinic one hour prior to your blepharoplasty surgery where the nurses will welcome you and complete your admission assessment along with the anaesthetist. You will also have the opportunity to talk to your surgeon and ask him/her any questions to make sure that you are comfortable going into blepharoplasty surgery. After the procedure you will spend some time in the recovery area where the anaesthetist and the recovery nurse will care for you. As soon as you feel comfortable, you will be transferred to the ambulatory care unit, where you will be cared for by another nurse and offered refreshments and a light lunch. It is here where the consultant will also check on you and explain the follow-up procedures. Once you feel well enough you are able to go home, but will need to be fetched as you will not be able to drive straightway. It also recommended that you have someone stay with you for the first 24 hours following your eyelid reduction surgery.
