What happens in volleyball when the ball is hit more than 3 times on one teams side ? ?
Most of the time, if the ball has to be touched more than 3 times by a team, the play is whistled dead, the referee indicates that the other team will get the ball, and will hold up 4 fingers to show that the reason the point was awarded was that one team contacted the ball too many times. However, if one team attacks the ball and a defender touches it on the block, that does not count as one of the three touches. The defending team has three touches after the block to get the ball back over the net.
