Groome Technologies operates its web facility in beautiful Satellite Beach, FL. As anyone who has access to TV knows, Florida has been a site of hurricane landfalls in recent years. In the past three, we have seen several. The occurrence and aftermath of each all involve a temporary disruption in essential services for the affected areas. Satellite Beach is no exception. Hurricane Season is effectively June through December. In the event of a storm passing from the Atlantic Ocean into our local area, the Department of Emergency Services issues evacuation orders to the barrier islands on which Satellite Beach is located. Groome Technologies monitors weather reports daily as well checks posting from the National Hurricane center. The shortest warning of a storm or evacuation we can realistically expect to receive is 96 hours. As such all of our emergency processes are designed to be in place within that time frame. The sea Lab is well prepared for such an event with an evacuation plan that includes transporting of students to the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Should the occasion arise, parents would be informed with specific information. Will I be expected to attend all classes? Yes, this is an academic program and all students will attend all classes.
