What happens in the City Center area depicted on the Draft Comprehensive Plan Map?
The “City Center” land areas indicated on the Draft Comprehensive Plan Map represent opportunities for developing a new town center or “downtown” for Damascus which could include a variety of commercial, retail, and office uses, high-density housing, and opportunities for civic facilities, such as a public library, city hall, post office, and similar uses. Future development in these areas would have a strong pedestrian and transit orientation and architectural character that create a sense of place. The City Center area could also include public open spaces, plazas, parks and conservation areas.
