What happens in respiration in a plant?

The first stage is called glycolysis. this occurs i the cells cytoplasm and involves the breakdown of glucose into Pyruvic acid using energy from 2 ATP (adenosine triphosphate) molecules but producing 4, so with a net gain of 2ATP. If there is oxygen present, the plant can then perform aerobic respiration. This occurs in the central matrix of the mitochondion and is called Kreb’s cycle. First of all the Pyruvic acid is broken down into Acetyl CoA and Carbon Dioxide. Then the Acetyl enters the cycle, binding with a 4-carbon compound that has just come out of the finished cycle. It forms a 6-carbon compound, then gives off CO2 and becomes a 5-carbon compound, then gives off CO2 and becomes a 4-carbon compound and then another reaction takes place and it is still a 4-carbon compound, although this gives off 2ATP, and the 4-C compound is ready to join with the acetyl. During each reaction right from the start, NADH2 is formed from NAD because at each stage, hydrogen i given off. In the nex
