What happens in an emergency?
NETC has a 24-hour presence. While tours are in progress, NETC can be reached 24 hours a day, both in the United States and overseas. An NETC Tour Director accompanies each NETC program at all times and knows how to deal with minor illnesses, accidents and so on. Tour Directors are in constant touch with our Regional Operations Managers abroad. Our insurance company, ACE provides access to worldwide medical assistance.
The University Health Center will arrange for students who need emergency care or hospitalization to be transported for treatment to a nearby hospital, usually Washington Adventist Hospital or Prince George’s Hospital Center. The Health Center assumes no financial responsibility for care provided off campus. That is why it is important for students to have health insurance coverage.
In the event of an emergency you can rest assure that we already working on a resolution to the problem. Our servers are continually monitored by the data-center and by a third-party monitoring company called Hyperspin. Data-center technicians are on hand 24hrs a day for hands-on that may required on any of our servers.
In a true emergency, get the care that you need as quickly as you can. Assuming you are able, try to contact your HMO, even in an emergency. However even if you are unable to contact your HMO, get the care you need. Even if you need to seek care from a non-HMO provider, your plan will cover emergency care as long as you follow the plan rules. Check to see how your plan defines a true emergency. Examples typically include severe bleeding, chest pain, and unconsciousness. Also check to see how soon after the onset of the emergency you must notify your HMO in order to be covered.
