What happens in a counselling session?
At your first session the counsellor will talk with you for up to one hour. During a counselling session, a safe space is created to explore your thoughts and feelings. Feeling your emotions is the beginning of healing. When the anguish we feel is offered the open heart of another person, our feelings are met with acceptance and understanding. We can relax and make sense of our feelings. The counsellor may ask also questions like where you met, how long you’ve been in relationship, and a few other basic questions.
