What happens if you have high blood glucose level at the time of conceiving…?
If you have developed diabetes, then it is very possible that leaving it uncontrolled may pose a problem to your fertility, so be sure it is checked again ASAP. Remember, though, that your sugar IS going to rise after you eat, so the 204 may have been fine! If you do get PG this cycle and you are found to have diabetes, as long as it is kept under control, then things should be fine. Generally, babies born to mothers with diabetes are larger than average (though not always!) and they may have a problem controlling their blood sugar after birth, leaving them at risk for hypoglycemia (when blood sugar levels drop too low), so they would monitor the baby for at least the first day of baby’s life. If you become PG and it turns out that your high sugar levels were just a fluke or were simply caused by eating (ie: you are found to NOT have diabetes) then there is likely nothing to worry about.
