What happens if there are no Ancillary Service (AS) bids and offers when the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) clears?
If there are no AS offers, and the AS plan is not fully covered by the AS self-arrangements submitted by the Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs), ERCOT will issue an AS insufficiency alert and delay DAM execution for 30 minutes for additional AS offers. If there are still no AS offers or not enough AS offers, DAM will then pass the AS insufficient quantity by type by hour to Daily Reliability Unit Commitment (DRUC). DRUC will commit resources to provide AS to meet the ERCOT AS requirement.
